Company Overview
INTER-K - a biotechnology company located in Newcastle, New South Wales Australia - was founded in 2002 following a discovery of a mechanism which regulated the growth of human cancer cells.
This finding identified a growth signalling pathway dependent upon a direct linkage between a transmembrane integrin molecule expressed in cancer cells and an intracellular MAP kinase enzyme, ERK2.
INTER-K’s name was coined to reflect the nature of the fundamental scientific discovery and is borrowed from the words “integrin” and “ERK”.
A series of small, non-naturally occurring peptides have been developed and have shown great potential in the laboratory as possible new treatments against a range of cancers.
